Short Bio
Nishrin holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Berkeley Law, with a specialization in environmental law, and a Bachelor of Laws from Universitas Indonesia. Before joining Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), she worked for an international non-governmental organization, where she was involved in campaign and research on illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing and human rights abuses in the fisheries sector. She also worked as a researcher at the Centre for Regulation, Policy and Governance, an Indonesian policy research institute, focusing on the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector.
Nishrin is currently a doctoral researcher in the International Doctorate Programme in Business and Human Rights at FAU. Her research focuses on the protection of migrant fishers in the global fishing industry. In particular, she examines the interplay between labour law, migration law, and the law of the sea, as well as state responsibility for protecting migrant fishers from exploitation.
